AR-15, a White Tesla & a Facebook Warning No One Saw: Who Is Ivanna Ortiz
On Sunday March 8 at approximately 1:15pm, a white Tesla pulled up across the street from Rihanna's Beverly Hills mansion on Heather Road in the Beverly Crest neighbourhood of Los Angeles — and opened fire. Approximately 10 rounds were discharged from an AR-15-style assault rifle. Bullets struck the property's front gate, an RV parked in the driveway, and at least two neighbouring homes on the block. At least one round penetrated a wall of the sprawling mansion itself. Inside the home at the time of the shooting were Rihanna — born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, one of the best-selling music artists of all time — her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, and their three children: sons RZA, aged 3, and Riot Rose, aged 2, and daughter Rocki, born in September 2025. No injuries were reported. The white Tesla fled south on Coldwater Canyon Drive. An LAPD helicopter tracked the vehicle to a shopping centre parking lot in Sherman Oaks, where patrol units moved in and detained the driver approximately 30 minutes after the initial 911 call. The woman behind the wheel was 35-year-old Ivanna Lisette Ortiz — a licensed speech pathologist from Orlando, Florida. She was arrested at 2:20pm and booked for attempted murder in the early hours of Monday March 9. Bail has been set at $10,225,000.
Who Is Ivanna Lisette Ortiz?
Ivanna Lisette Ortiz is a 35-year-old Florida woman described in Los Angeles County Sheriff's inmate records as having blonde hair and brown eyes. She is a licensed speech pathologist from Orlando — an Illinois native, according to her social media — with no previously known connection to Rihanna or A$AP Rocky. Her criminal history is limited but notable. Orange County, Florida court records show five traffic citations between 2008 and 2024. She was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence battery in June 2023 and on a charge of violation of domestic injunction three months later. In October 2025 — five months before the shooting — a woman named Ivanna Ortiz filed an emergency petition for temporary injunction relief against LiveNation, the City of Orlando, and the Kia Center related to a Billie Eilish concert. In that petition, Ortiz alleged she would suffer immediate and irreparable harm if the concert proceeded due to noise concerns and traffic issues. The court dismissed the claim as moot after the concert went ahead as scheduled. The filing paints a picture of someone with a pattern of grievance-driven legal and confrontational behaviour — but nothing in the public record predicted what happened Sunday afternoon on Heather Road.
The Facebook Posts: A Warning Two Weeks Earlier
The most alarming detail to emerge in the hours after Ortiz's arrest is the existence of social media posts that appear to foreshadow — or directly signal — animosity toward Rihanna in the weeks before the shooting. A February 23 post from a Facebook account linked to Ortiz by multiple outlets read: "@badgalriri Are you there? Cause I was waiting for your AIDS 5-head self to say something to me directly instead of sneaking around like you talking to me where I'm not at." The post directly tagged Rihanna's Instagram account. It was posted 13 days before the shooting. A second post from the same account featured a video of Ortiz — dressed in a blonde wig and American flag shorts — recording herself speaking into a mirror, delivering a rambling monologue directed at rapper Cardi B. LAPD investigators are treating the Facebook posts as potentially significant evidence as they work to establish a motive — a motive that has not yet been officially confirmed. The high bail amount set by the court reflects multiple aggravating factors: the attempted murder charge, the number of occupants present in the home at the time of the shooting, and the nature of the weapon used. The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office is expected to formally announce charges on March 10.
The Weapon, the Scene & the Investigation
The weapon recovered from Ortiz's white Tesla — an AR-15-style semi-automatic assault rifle — is the detail that most starkly underscores the potential for catastrophic harm on Sunday afternoon. An AR-15-style rifle is capable of firing multiple high-velocity rounds in rapid succession. Approximately 10 rounds were fired across a residential street in one of Los Angeles' most exclusive neighbourhoods at 1:15 in the afternoon — in a community its own residents describe as extraordinarily quiet and safe. Seven spent casings were recovered from inside the Tesla. Bullet holes were visible on the property's front driveway gate. At least two neighbouring homes on the block also sustained bullet holes — raising the possibility, being actively investigated by LAPD's Robbery Homicide Division, that the attack may have been less precisely targeted than initially assumed. Investigators are working to determine whether Ortiz knew she was shooting at Rihanna's home specifically — or whether the attack was random or directed at an unrelated target in the same street. Neither Rihanna nor A$AP Rocky has issued a public statement. Their representatives did not immediately respond to media requests for comment. The investigation is active, ongoing, and being treated with the full resources of LAPD's most senior investigative division. For the latest updates on this developing story, follow digital8hub.com.
