The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins Review – Tracy Morgan's NBC Comeback Is Worth Watching By the Digital8Hub.com Editorial Team | February 23, 2026 Tracy Morgan is back where he belongs — on NBC, on primetime, making America laugh out loud. The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, the brand new sports sitcom from the creative team behind 30 Rock, premiered on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 8/7c on NBC with a special one-hour double-episode event — and it has already established itself as one of the funniest new shows of the year. At digital8hub.com, we watched both episodes back-to-back and here is our full review. What Is The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins? The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins stars Morgan as a disgraced former football star on a mission to rehabilitate his image with acclaimed filmmaker Arthur Tobin, played by Daniel Radcliffe. Space.com Twenty years after a scandal, former running back Reggie Dinkins hopes to rehabilitate his image — confronting his past mistakes while attempting to win back the respect of fans, family, and himself. Space Coast Daily He plays Reggie Dinkins, a former NFL superstar who was disgraced in a gambling scandal and is trying to sort of put his life back together by making a documentary about himself, as athletes often do. Yahoo Sports The mockumentary format — think Parks and Recreation meets 30 Rock — gives the show a wonderfully self-aware energy that plays perfectly to Morgan's improvisational comedic instincts. The Dream Team Behind It This show is a reunion years in the making. The series reunites Morgan with 30 Rock creator Tina Fey, who serves as an executive producer on Reggie Dinkins. Robert Carlock and Sam Means are the co-showrunners and writers, and they executive produce alongside Morgan, Eric Gurian and David Miner. Space.com The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins is an American sports sitcom created by Robert Carlock and Sam Means for NBC, and premiered as a midseason entry in the 2025–26 television season. Space.com The Fey–Carlock creative fingerprint is all over this show — the rapid-fire jokes, the absurdist character logic, the warmth beneath the chaos. If you loved 30 Rock, you will feel immediately at home here. The Cast — Tracy Morgan, Daniel Radcliffe & More Tracy Morgan is the beating, chaotic heart of the show. As Reggie Dinkins, he is simultaneously delusional, loveable, infuriating, and deeply human. Reggie isn't as much of an unhinged loon as Morgan's Tracy Jordan — his fame lasted long enough to make him rich, though not so long that the constant coddling of fans and hangers-on cooked his brain for good. digital8hub It's a more nuanced performance than many will expect from Morgan, and all the better for it. Daniel Radcliffe is a revelation as Arthur Tobin. It takes a minute to discover just why Arthur Tobin is willing to devote himself to such an uncooperative subject, one who shoos his cameras away the moment things start to get interesting. digital8hub Radcliffe's deadpan straight-man energy is the perfect counterweight to Morgan's explosive unpredictability — their chemistry is the engine that drives the show. The cast also includes Erika Alexander as Monica — Reggie's ex-wife, agent and business manager — plus Bobby Moynihan, Precious Way and Jalyn Hall. Space.com Alexander in particular is outstanding, grounding the show's more outlandish moments with sharp, knowing comic timing. Craig Robinson is set to appear during the season as Jerry Basmati, Reggie's longtime rival from his days as a star player of the New York Jets — with Robinson's wife, played by SNL alum Heidi Gardner, also having a rivalry with Monica. Spaceflight Now Plot & Format — Mockumentary Magic The most uttered phrase in the first season is three short words: "Don't film this." Reggie, a pro football star whose career was ended by a gambling scandal, is planning a comeback 20 years later, and he's decided that the best route to recapturing the public's affection is to produce his own biographical documentary. digital8hub The mockumentary format is used brilliantly. The show does get off a few well-placed jabs at nonfiction's expense — Monica busts Arthur on his attempt to get her to elaborate on an uncomfortable subject by simply staying quiet, and Reggie tries to force Arthur to shut off his cameras by breaking into a Beatles song that would be too expensive to license. In a budget-conscious twist, he's actually singing a cheap knockoff. digital8hub The pilot features one of the funniest cold opens of any NBC comedy in years — Reggie, on live television, casually admitting to his bookie that he bet on every game, not realising he was being interviewed live on air. Yahoo Sports It sets the tone perfectly. Is It the New 30 Rock? Of all the series released under the Carlock–Fey banner, this feels the most like a true heir to 30 Rock's sensibility — familiar in the best of ways. digital8hub That is high praise indeed. The show has the same DNA — rapid-fire absurdist comedy, sharply drawn characters, jokes that reward repeat viewing — without simply retreading old ground. The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins moves to its regular timeslot on Monday, March 2 at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC, with new episodes streaming next day on Peacock.
